THE FINAL MOMENT
July 13, 2000. The final moment. Jacob Alexander King was now ours..officially. The memories came flooding back this week after reading some more excerpts in Kevins journal. It was a time where everything we had hoped for, prayed for, cried for, came to fruition. Throughout the process of the adoption, I had only kept focused on the paperwork, counseling, tests, finances, while Kevin worked on the baby room. Every night after work he would get a ladder and stick stars on the ceiling in just the right position so that the baby to come would see the galaxy. He painted the room in bright, cheery colors and put everything in its right place. Like all of us, we each have a moment in time that you take a snapshot of, because, well, it’s going to change the trajectory of your life. It could be a career, meeting the love of your life, a new baby, home, or a new location. But it can also be a not so good moment. A terminal diagnosis, a loss of a loved one, a marriage that ends, a wayward child. These moments in time, both the good and the sad, create the fabric of our lives…often in many different colors, shapes, and patterns….all leading to our final story…our final moment. When Jesus said “It was finished” the disciples saw the end of their hopes and dreams. But it wasn’t finished. In three days it was going to be the best part of all of their lives, of all of our lives. Wherever you are at in your life right now you can be encouraged that Jesus has a purpose for it. It is leading to the plans He has always had for your life…both the times of Joy and sorrow, but all culminating to that piece of fabric called your life. The only question is “ Will Jesus be the one to knit it together or will you do it alone?” I pray that you will share your journey with Jesus and find what true JOY really is…
