FINDING TRUE LOVE FINALLY
“I’m getting married!”. I was shocked. How long have you known him? “ Just a few months”, came the reply. And just like that these love birds were married. We had them over for dinner and I made them a heart shaped blueberry cheesecake in celebration of their recent nuptials. But to be honest, why is this story unique? Lots of people get married later in life. Because this story is about Gods faithfulness when it seems so impossible to have your hearts desire fulfilled. Iv’e known Kelly for awhile and have seen the pain and suffering she endured for many years in a very contentious marriage/divorce. When the divorce was finally “done” it was a journey alone but not lonely. She has her wonderful family and grandchildren that she loves and adores. Her hope for true love was something allusive for her future. Larry, her now husband, was a widower. He lost her during COVID where he was not able to be with her when she died. A champion archer, he never imagined to love again and saw his future alone but not lonely. And then it happened. They met at her work and sparks flew. Each step of the way they sought God out to confirm their possible future together. Like many of us, our hearts desire may be so far removed that you have stopped praying for it. I know some of you have been deeply hurt or have endured abuse that life alone is so much more peaceful. But, there are those who seek a soulmate and right now that just seems to be impossible to imagine. And for others, it’s to have the doctor say “ the cancer is gone”. Whatever your circumstances are, God does promise that He will give you the desire of our heart BUT it comes with the first part saying “delight in the Lord” which is just a way of saying seek God first and let Him lead your path. As King Solomon wrote in Proverbs 13:12 “ Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of Life”. Congratulations to Kelly and Larry and may God continue to bring JOY to your hearts. And for those still waiting for your hearts desire to be fulfilled, whatever that may be, ….seek God first and be confident of His faithfulness to you. I can’t wait to hear from some of you saying “ you won’t believe what God has done”…..
