HOPE: ONE CRACKER AT A TIME
You could hear it in her voice. The worry. The fear. My sister’s son Ryan, his son Dylan, needed prayer. It’s the kind of prayer that went on my chalkboard because those prayers require 24/7 prayer. Dylan was having pain in his stomach, when, shortly afterwards, he was rushed to Children’s Hospital in Connecticut for a ruptured appendix. In most cases this would have required a few days in the hospital and released to go home. But not this time. Everything went wrong. Day after day they would try and give him water and a cracker but he couldn’t keep anything down. This went on for six, long, grueling, days. Dylan continued to be in a lot pain, but, like the son Ryan and Lauren have, he tried to stay positive. I texted Ryan everyday for an update. His response, “ Please pray”. I contacted my prayer warriors and those who follow me on FB and we prayed. Have you ever been in that situation? You pray and pray but it seems like God is not listening, or for that matter, maybe HE just doesn’t care. Maybe HE’s too busy or, you never believed in Him before so why pray now? God is real and He showed it when Jesus came in the flesh, God in Him, showing the world who He is. While He was on the earth he did many, many healings…. each with a purpose. …and that includes some that are not healed. So the question is, at least for those who do claim to be a Christian, which will have the greater good, healing or no healing, for the glory of God? In the case of Dylan, his course changed. After nine days, Dylan was able to eat a cracker and keep it down. His parents were finally able to take him home. Thank you all for your prayers and those at Children’s Hospital. Does the power of prayer really work? Yes, it does….always to the glory of God. Dylan can now go on to be the best baseball player, the best son, the best brother, and the best guy who knows how much He’s loved by God and also by so many others. Thank you Ryan and Lauren for allowing me to write this story…a story of HOPE for those who need it the most…right now. Let us pray…..
