PIVOT

Fear had gripped me. I could no longer feel safe to walk Miley by myself in our neighborhood. And then I remembered. The park. Yes, of course! So, Miley and I were off for a new adventure. When she jumped out of the car, there was a new excitement in her body. There were new paths, grass everywhere, ducks, ponds, bridges, even fish! People walked with a sense of calmness, rode their bikes at a leisurely pace, dogs were giving each other high fives ( at least that’s what I imagined) Yes, this was a much better place to enjoy the outdoors. Pivot. When you are at a crossroad in your life, you have two choices. One choice is to just stand there and do nothing. It would be easy to blame someone or something for your complacency and the outcome of your life. Or, the second option is to pivot. This will require looking at yourself honestly and be willing to do the hard work for a positive change. There is a story of a lame man at the pool of Bethesda who was also at a similar crossroad. Jesus had intentionally went to meet him, even though there were many people at the pool to be healed. Jesus approached the man and asked this simple question; “would you like to be healed?” The lame man gave him all the reasons as to why he couldn’t be healed. Do you find yourself doing the same thing? Telling the one person, Jesus, all the reasons why you can’t be healed? Jesus knows who we are, what we were created to be, and the road to get there. As the lame man looked at Jesus he saw hope for the first time. Jesus simply said “ Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” And this is where each of us have a choice. Do we submit to Jesus for complete healing, allowing us to face whatever is stopping us and pivoting onto the road of JOY? The lame man picked up his mat and walked for the first time…straight to Jesus. Miley now has a better place to enjoy the outdoors because fear, what seemed to stop me where I was, actually helped me find a different path, a better place of JOY. How about you? Are you ready to pivot your circumstances, to do the hard work for a positive change, to allow Jesus to make you whole again? As you set out for a new adventure, I pray you will take Jesus’s hand and know that with Him, you will find your true destiny…your road to peace and JOY.
