ANGELS AT CHICK-FIL-A
With my legs crisscrossed, I settled into the booth at Chick-fil-a to chill before my next shift. In the corner of my eye, I saw something vibrant and looked to see the most exquisite looking, mature women..playing cards. They were so beautifully dressed, with coordinated earrings, that I unconsciously looked for cameras to see if it was an AARP commercial being shot! The woman in the glasses, Bonnie, got up to use the restroom and stopped to ask me how I could sit the way I do. That’s all it took and the both of them came and joined me at my table. Bonnie and Judi are respectively 78 & 80 if you can believe that. They have been friends for a very long time and love to have fun. As we began to talk, I found out Judi has had liver cancer for the past 4 1/2 years and just recently was told it had spread to her back and hip. Both of them are Christians. Though Judi had received devastating news, there was a spirit of peace, of inner JOY, that could be so clearly seen by all. At this chapter of our lives, some of us have less time to make a difference in the kingdom of God, but Judi and her husband have used their financial resources to support a non-profit organization called “ Choices”. It helps women to keep their babies and all that will be necessary for this transition. I asked Judi what I could pray for. With tears in her eyes, she wanted to be able to say to her Iranian doctor that she has been healed by Jesus. Isn’t that what you would ask Jesus? There was a time, awhile back, where I had five friends who had cancer. One in particular, God had put on my heart to pray for healing everyday. She died. I stopped praying for healing for anyone. Three months later, I shared this with a friend who knew the woman who had died. Her response? She had been healed. But the healing wasn’t physical. It was her marriage. And she said that if she had to suffer cancer all over again for the most amazing, healing, loving, relationship with her husband, she would do it all over again. Jesus promises healing…He just chooses which healing it will be. As I prayed for Judi, right there at Chick-fil-a, I knew her doctor would come to know Jesus…whatever way HE chooses. For those who are battling cancer or a loved one is, or battling any other kind of struggle, God promises to be right there with you, never to forsake you, and to lead you to a forever healing. We just need to lean on HIM, trust in HIM, and let HIM bring the final ending to HIS eternal pathway. Thank you Bonnie and Judi for sharing my table and showing me the radiant LOVE of Jesus….until we meet again…
