CHOICES

Kev and I were standing on the dock, trying to decide which sailboat to take. The man told us one would take us on an incredible adventure, whereas the other would take us to treacherous waters. The sailboats looked the same but pointing in different directions. We could say no to both and be safe. We could make the wrong decision and possibly not make it back. Or, we could pick the right one and live an adventurous life, just like we had always wanted to do. Kev said we should pray first and we did. God told us to pick the sailboat on the right and we went on the most exciting trip, seeing such beautiful places. The dream continues with more choices to make, the last one being the riskiest. It was the hardest because they both brought joy with no real negative consequences…or so it seemed. As we prayed the Lord said “no”. You see, the man was lying. Either choice was going to be destructive. It reminded me of Las Vegas where people are winning on their slot machine, not knowing it was designed to eventually take all their money because they knew most people would not walk away if they were winning. And then I woke up. The dream showed me that the choices we make needs to first go before God because He loves us, knows us, and has the best plan for our lives. But, there is also another one, a deceiver, a roaring lion, who wants to destroy us. Are you facing an important decision right now? How will you decide? Your decision and outcome will depend on who you are listening to. Right now there are people who still believe they don’t need God, their lives are fine, because they are not experiencing any negative consequences. And that is exactly what the greatest deceiver, liar, wants you to believe. But, like those on the Titanic, who believed it was “unsinkable”, they found out too late, it was a lie. Jesus died on the cross so that we could have a choice, a choice for eternal life with the one who loves us so much. Decisions made with God lead to the path we were designed to follow. It does not mean we will not suffer pain and sorrow. It just means that He will walk beside us, carrying us through the worst of times until we are finally home, free of tears. The choice is yours…which will you choose?
