THE UN WELCOMED CHANGE

It was just the next day. I went in to take her for her morning walk, only she wasn’t there but her walker was. Alarmed, I found her in the dining room…in a wheelchair. I asked the CNA why the wheelchair and was told, “ she couldn’t walk”. And she hasn’t walked since. It was just another day on campus. And before anyone knew it, a shot was fired and he was gone. Screams of fear, disbelief, and sadness beyond comprehension, shook those on the campus…shook the world. And just last night. The Broncos played, what some would say, was their best game, against the best team, the Bills. With a nail biting end, the Bronocs WIN!!! Shouts of cheer could be heard all over Denver, the least of which was in our own home…and moments later, the unthinkable…Bo Nix had broken his ankle and would be out….not to play the last game to get them over the finish line…the Super Bowl. Un welcomed change. It can take your breath away, leaving you wondering “ why?” For those of us who have experienced an un welcomed change, it can force you to look at your life with the question “ what do I do now?'“ How you accept the change will depend on one thing; Is Jesus in your life? Is He both your Lord and Savior? Some people may say “ It’s not that simple”, or, “ this is not a religious situation where I need God”. But it is that simple and yes we all need God in all of our circumstances…in our entire life. Why? Because to the unbeliever these changes of events can be debilitating and set you on a path of destruction. But, to the believer, who knows their Jesus, these un welcomed changes, are not setbacks…but rather a change of paths that will lead to the final place where we were meant to be. God is in charge of all circumstances and in the end He WINS and so do those of us who follow Him. Though my client is now in a wheelchair she still smiles and has accepted the change with JOY.. Though one man was shot it ignited a movement for millions to accept Jesus and find their own new destiny. What about you? When you have or had an un welcomed change, how did you handle it? Was Jesus a part of it? If He was, how did the change show you His faithfulness? I would challenge each of you to keep a journal this new year and write down how faithful God was in all of your circumstances. It will change your life and your faith in Him. How can I say that? My bestie from college whom I nicknamed “Do” and our roomies, rolled out butcher paper that covered an entire wall our senior year. On it we wrote our prayer requests. The answer was written in red ink. At the end of the year it was completely filled in…with red ink. It was a reminder that God is and always will be the one to take un welcomed changes and show us that they were simply a change leading to our final path of purpose, Joy, and eternity with Him. As for the un welcomed change for the Broncos…the last game hasn’t been played….
