ONE PURPOSE UNDER GOD

It was early in the morning, before the sun came up, that Kev was digging the hole and pouring cement. I came out to help hold the pole. Kev held onto the flag, ever so reverently, and hoisted it up to the top. One by one neighbors came out to also stand before the flag. But this morning it was just Kev. In the quietness of the morning we thanked God for what we have, for all the freedoms, liberties, and a reminder of what we are all about. So, what are we all about? In Mark 12:28-31 one of the teachers asked Jesus “ what is the most important commandment?” Jesus answered, “ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: “ Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these”. This summer our Womens Bible Study with Lisa Laizure, did a study in systematic theology. The one central theme about the difference between Christianity and other religions is LOVE. God so loved us that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God also gave Jesus a choice to die..he wasn’t forced. And Jesus chose death. But it was his resurrection that gave us freedom to chose life with God..or not. In our world right now it is easy to forget that we are called to love God and our neighbor…because only love from Jesus can change a person to a new creation. And I can say personally, this isn’t easy. I would rather share “ my opinion “ than God’s perspective. So, maybe we can start praying for those we don’t agree with, ask God for divine appointments to reflect His love, and remember God is in control…and He ALWAYS wins! As Kev and I look to our flag waving in the wind, we say “ God Bless America”. What about you?….
