HE SEES ME

It was in the middle of the day, the hottest time when no one goes to the well. Jesus has been waiting for her. Tired, hot with beads of sweat coming down her face, she comes to the well…alone. Without saying a word to the man standing in front of her, she proceeds to put her jug into the well. Jesus watches her..waits to see her look up at Him. He then asks her for some water. Now, I wasn’t there, but, her expression says a lot. Like, “Really?”, “You come to a well and don’t even have anything to get the water?” There is a dialog that goes on for awhile, as to who’s well it is, where are we going to worship, how can you be talking to a woman, much less a Samaritan woman….a woman of ill repute. She continues to argue with Jesus until He tells her what He knows of her…her past with men…her present with a man she is not married to but is living with. And at that moment she realizes something. He SEES her…for the first time someone SEES her…not in shame but in LOVE. This past week in our home group our discussion led to a point of tears for me personally. Jesus to me isn’t just my ticket to heaven, a good moral compass to live by, a religion where He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life….He is also the one who SEES me…for all the good, the imperfections, the insecurities, the doubts, the failures….and still smiles and says He loves me. Are you in need of someone to SEE you? To see your circumstances..to see your fears that you can’t or won’t talk to anyone about? Or maybe your shame or deep secret? When the woman at the well heard Jesus tell her things about her life that only the Messiah would know, Jesus says “ I AM the Messiah”. This time when she looked into His eyes she saw His Love, not disappointment, but LOVE for her. With an inexpressible JOY, her heart changed, her life changed, her purpose to share with others that SHE has met THE Messiah changed…all because He SAW her. How about you? Are you ready for Jesus, the one who knows you the best, the one who loves you the most, the ONLY one who can change your life..a life of everlasting JOY, PEACE, and ETERNITY with Him. Look up this day to Him and see what He SEES in you…. LOVE.
